The goal of eJAP is to provide scientifically rigorous but easily accessible
information about empirical, field and theoretical research into anomalous
phenomena. By anomalous phenomena we mean the phenomenon of anomalous cognition,
which is also called extrasensory perception, and the phenomenon of anomalous
perturbation, which is also called psychokinesis. Papers will be peer-reviewed
before acceptance.eJAP will also provide a moderated forum for commentary to its articles (see Call for Commentaries below).
In contrast with paper journals the contents of eJAP will increase continuously and unpredictably in a cumulative way. The electronic Journal for Anomalous Phenomena (eJAP) seeks contributions for
as off July 1996. Papers should be submitted
by e-mail to the Editorial Board (e-mail address: eJAP@psy.uva.nl ) in RTF
format.
The journal will be published on the World Wide Web and therefore there
are some recommendations that should be adhered to as much as possible.
- Because
the potential readership is much larger than the readership of specialized
journals, the first recommendation is to submit the technical details of the
study as appendices which will be linked separately to the relevant pages. For
instance, the Results Section may summarize the results in phrases such as "The
performance of first-time participants in the study was significantly higher
than the performance of second-time participants (34% versus 26%)." A link would
be embedded at such a sentence that would point to the statistical details of
this particular finding.
- The main text should not exceed 6 pages or
4000 words. All other information should be included in appendices with
call-outs and/or links in the main text to the appropriate appendices.
- The abstract should fit on the one screen and should be understandable for
the average scientist.
- If there are resources on the net that can be pointed to, this should be
indicated. For example, it may be useful to point to the FAQ document that is
maintained by the Laboratory for Consciousness Studies at the University of
Nevada.
- It is highly recommended that raw data is made available for password-coded
access. eJAP will archive this material in a standardized way.
- One picture may be worth 1000 words. You may also include small video clips
in any part of the paper (all formats of pictures and clips are supported).
- Please provide abstracts of all papers cited in your reference section. We
will link each reference to its abstract so readers can get a fuller
picture of your paper's background. If the cited paper was accompanied by
an abstract when it was originally published, please use that.
It should be noted that after consultation with the authors submissons may be substantially reformatted and rearranged by the editors in order to meet the demands of publication via World Wide Web.
Call for Commentaries
Commentary to articles are also welcomed at the above e-mail address. For articles that are in the process of peer review these commentaries may be reflected in adjustments of the final paper. For final articles the commentaries will be added as links in the article. Please note that the commentary section will be moderated.
