JUST A MINUTE PLEASE

ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM EXACTLY AT 12 NOON

TAKE A MINUTE OR TWO FOR SILENCE, PRAYER, MEDITATION, OR WISHING FOR WORLD PEACE

CHANGES OF MIND CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

This is an invitation and encouragement for people all around the world to "pray or wish for peace and the welfare of mankind" exactly at 12 noon local time on the 1st of January 2000. Take a moment individually or get together with family and friends. Though we are calling this event "Just a minute please" many of us will want to spend a longer time, perhaps 5 or 10 minutes or more thinking about and envisioning positive directions in our shared future.

Most people feel that prayers and good wishes can somehow have beneficial effects. They are a natural part of our language and life. We encourage both religious and secular leaders to support this effort to involve as many people as possible in a simple, but world-wide cooperation at the beginning of a new millenium.

There will be an attempt to record the immediate effect of this moment of coherence and shared intention. An international group of scientists involved in the Global Consciousness Project will examine data from a network of monitoring instruments to see whether any changes are correlated with the 24 "Just a Minute" periods around the world.

Formal analysis indicating a significant effect (p = 0.010) is now available.
